However, the Biblical New Year begins on the first day of Nissan (the month of Passover). Yom Teruah begins a period known as the High Holy Days - also known as the Ten Days of Awe or Ten Days of Grace - preceding Yom Kippur, the Great Day of Atonement. On this day, the shofars (rams horns) blast to honor and crown our King! T shofars serve as a reminder for us to wake up and prepare for the Day of&nbsp;Deliverance.
